Medical Micro Needling
Microneedling is a key treatment used in skin rejuvenation to battle common conditions such as acne scars, sun-damaged skin, fine lines, wrinkles and stretch marks. At Facial Rejuve Clinic, we use the Rejuvapen medical micro needling device.
The Rejuvapen™ Automatic Therapy System utilizes 9 precisely spaced micro needles in a small cartridge to create invisible, vertical, micro perforations into the epidermis and the top layer of the dermis.
As a result, the skin shifts it’s natural repair mechanism into high gear and starts producing collagen and elastin to repair these micro-perforations. The self-repairing property of the skin is a 100% natural form of skin renewal from the inside out.
Rejuvapen – The Procedure
The Rejuvapen treatment is a micro-needling treatment that stimulates the production of collagen in the skin. This medical grade treatment not only will improve the skins appearance, but also can be used to treat hyper-pigmentation, stretch marks, acne scars and fine lines and wrinkles.
Treatable areas with Rejuvapen
Rejuvapen is most used in our practice to treat acne scarring but it can be used for many different types of scarring on other parts of the body. For example, stretch marks, which are a type of scar, can be treated with Rejuvapen. We’ve also begun using Rejuvapen for melasma, which can’t be treated with lasers.
It’s important to realize that these scars are permanent and won’t completely disappear. However, we can use Rejuvapen to improve their appearance.
How Does Rejuvapen Work?
Rejuvapen utilizes precisely spaced micro needles in a small cartridge to create invisible, vertical, micro perforations into the top layers of the skin. As a result, the skin shifts its natural repair mechanism into high gear and starts producing collagen and elastin. The self-repairing property of the skin is a 100% natural form of skin renewal. Adjustable needle length from .2 to 2.5mm allows customized treatments from skin freshening to deep scar repair anywhere on the body. Skin becomes firmer and regains its elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles are visibly reduced, pores become firmer, circulation is stimulated, and the overall condition of the skin improves.
Results/How long does it last for?
Patients may notice healthier looking skin right away. However, keep in mind that dermal collagen remodelling occurs over time, and it would not be realistic to expect damage that has happened to the skin over a long period of time to disappear right away. We suggest a series of 4-6 sessions depending on what the treatment is for. Individuals may not see results until 3-6 months following the last appointment.
Does it hurt?
Before treatment a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area. The anaesthetic cream numbs the skin and makes the treatment almost painless. You may experience some sensitivity, particularly around the eyes. People who experience the treatment say that it feels like their skin is being rubbed with fine sandpaper, others describe the feeling of an electric toothbrush being moved across your skin.
